How does your donation help?
How Your Donation Makes a Difference at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry
When you give to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, you’re doing more than stocking shelves—you’re helping real families right here in our community. Here’s how your donation truly helps:
1. We Can Buy Food at Very Low Cost
Because we partner with the Food Bank of Iowa, we’re able to stretch every dollar much further than you can at a regular grocery store. Your donation helps us bring in high-quality food for just pennies on the dollar.
2. Bulk Buying = More People Fed
Some of our most-needed items are things we can buy in bulk at a really low price. That means your gift helps keep staples like pasta, canned goods, and proteins available week after week.
3. We Fill in the Gaps
Not everything we need is available through the Food Bank, and that’s where your support really shines. Donations help us buy kid-friendly food that is sent home from school weekly to kids in need, personal care items that are costly but essential (soap, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene items), and other staple foods that help feed families.
4. You Help Families Maintain Dignity
Your support allows us to offer choice and variety—letting families pick the foods that fit their diets, preferences, and traditions. That dignity and flexibility matters.
5. You Help Keep Us Running
Your donations also help with the behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps the pantry open and welcoming: equipment, storage, safe facilities, and day-to-day operations.
We thank you for your support during this season and all year long!
