We are excited to announce that the Good Samaritan Food Pantry will be open the 3rd Saturday of each month starting Saturday, June 21, 2025. In an effort to help more people find free food assistance, the pantry is working to extend hours and days that families can access food.

Good Samaritan Food Pantry, located at 215 N. 11th Street in Adel, offers a 7-10 day supply of pantry food staples, along with meet, eggs, and cheese when available. Personal care items are also available to shoppers at their monthly visit.

In addition to monthly food pantry visits, people can pick up free fresh food anytime during regular open hours. Fresh food includes “rescue food” items donated by local stores that often includes produce, ready-made meals, bagged salads, milk, and bakery items.

The food pantry also provides free food for kids during the school year and the summer months. From June-Aug., free Kid’s Food Packs are available each week to kids pre-K through 12th grade. Kid’s Packs contain kid-friendly food including 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 7 snacks.

Anyone in our service area in need of food assistance can visit the food pantry– there are no income guidelines. We currently serve residents in Adel, DeSoto, Minburn, Van Meter, Dexter, Linden and Redfield.

Current hours:

Monday & Tuesday – 12 pm to 2 pm
4th Monday of the Month – 5 pm to 6 pm
3rd Saturday of the Month – Noon to 2 pm
