October is the Annual Scout Drive for us. There are many boy and girl scouts and adult leaders that canvas the town first to deliver bags to your homes and then to collect the bags and bring them to us.

This time it was wet and rainy but that didn’t deter them. There were some who stayed and marked the cans with “best if used by” dates, sorted them, and had them ready for us to finish putting away. With the scouts helping to mark and the rest of the volunteers who helped it was 64 hours of marking and putting away 1 1/2 tons of food!

We thank you, Adel community, for supporting this food pantry. Lives are changed due to this food pantry. One small reminder when you are donating food…we don’t give out food that the date is more than 6 months old.  If you check your food for those dates before putting it in the bag it will help us when it comes.
