Two volunteers are needed on the 3rd and 5th Mondays of the month to pick up food from 5-6 places in West Des Moines and Waukee. The shift is roughly between 8:30am – 11:30 am.
Volunteers help to load fresh food donated from stores and deliver it back to the food pantry to be distributed to customers.
Food rescue is an important part of our services at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Local stores donate fresh food and our amazing volunteers help to pick it up and deliver it back to the food pantry in Adel. Bread, fruits, vegetables, pastries, even pizza, are some of the foods that are made available to customers thanks to food rescue.
